Ràdio El Vendrell iniciava les seves emissions regulars el dissabte 24 de gener de 1981 des de la segona planta de la Cooperativa La Reforma. Això va ser possible gràcies al finançament de l'Ajuntament del Vendrell i sobretot a l'empenta, enginy i voluntat d'un grup de joves de la vila, entre els quals hi havia tant professionals com aficionats.
