KDPI Drop-In Radio was established as a 501c3 organization in 2011 by Hailey resident Michael Scullion. His vision was to create a wide-spectrum media forum for community outreach, education and entertainment that was inclusive to all and free of commercial advertisement. KDPI officially went live on air and streaming in April 2013. KDPI’s mission is to serve Blaine County and the region with dynamic, commercial-free radio programming. As the voice of the community, the aim of KDPI is to build and strengthen community though content designed to stimulate interest, awareness, and participation in culture, education, and politics. Besides offering a variety of music daily, KDPI also addresses health, social, legal, recreational and self-exploration issues through its multi-dimensional talk shows. Live performances by local and visiting musical acts are featured weekly. The station has more than two-dozen locally hosted and produced programs, courtesy of volunteer show hosts. As the only community radio in the region KDPI serves a unique function – it’s the only place to get updated, interviews and live reports on local activities, weather and upcoming events.
