في 30 / تشرين أول / 1998 إنطلق بث إذاعة العراق الحر من العاصمة التشيكية براغ كجزء من خدمات إذاعية موجّهة بلغات مختلفة تقدمها إذاعة أوروبا الحرة / إذاعة الحرية التي تتمثّل رسالتها في الترويج للقيم الديمقراطية ومؤسساتها، من خلال بث الأفكار والمعلومات الواقعية، وهو أمرٌ يحتّم على جميع الصحفيين والمشاركين في المساهمات الصحفية في إذاعة العراق الحر التقيّد بالمبادئ التالية:
