武汉交通广播以开车人和出行人群为目标受众。全天节目以交通服务类节目为主干，以新闻资讯、综艺娱乐为两翼，交通路况信息贯穿全天。 武汉交通广播播出频率为调频89.6兆赫、中波873千赫。全天播出时间20小时。是我省唯一双频覆盖的交通广播电台。也是武汉地区第一家在武汉市公安局交通管理局指挥中心设立路况直播室的交通广播电台。目前，武汉交通广播《896路况直播室》依托武汉市公安交管局指挥中心交通路况电子大屏幕显示的全市道路状况，每天实时直播，为开车人提供及时、准确的交通路况信息。高峰时段（7：00--9：00 17：00—19：00 ）每7-8分钟播报一次，其它时段每10—12分钟播报一次。特殊路况随时插播。
